Agnes Brygge, Stavern · Holiday homes
Green and beige, chosen for the light of the sea.
Right at the water's edge in Stavern, with the sea on both sides and a private jetty, a family of four had found their holiday paradise. The goal was a bright, summery and welcoming home.

Having worked with the family on earlier projects, we were given a free hand. The starting point was the apartment's spectacular location and the family's colourful art.
There are large glass doors on both sides and light all the way through. But near the sea, grey and blue tones quickly turn very cold — so the palette became green and beige. The main bedroom was painted a delicate green; the guest room, hallway and office a warm beige.

The open living, dining and kitchen area has a lot of glass, so the walls were given a beige wallpaper with a coarse linen texture. The sea draws much of the warmth out of the colour, and the neutral backdrop lets the art take centre stage. The vinyl wallpaper is durable and washable — very child-friendly.

Many of the furniture pieces and storage solutions were designed by Colline Design and made by a carpenter, and headboards, curtains and textiles were made to order. That way the interior is tailored to the project and holds together throughout.

A standard new-build that originally had cold grey walls has become a cosy holiday home in apartment form — a place for guests, visits and long, warm summer months.
